Holiday Giving Challenge - Montreal

Every year, DRW employees across the globe compete in our Holiday Giving Challenge, which benefits nonprofit organizations in all of our cities. Our Montreal office chose five organizations from Canada and their home city this year – learn about what they do, and where our money goes.

Kids Code Jeunesse

What is the mission of your organization?

We are a Canadian not for profit organization dedicated to empowering children and educators, with a particular focus on girls and children from disadvantaged groups, with the skills we all need to thrive in a technology driven society. By bringing digital learning experiences into the classroom and in communities, we teach Canadians how to be better thinkers and better creators in a digital world.

What populations do you serve?

Although we serve children across Canada, many of our programs benefit girls and disadvantaged groups.

What will the money DRW raises go towards?

The money DRW raises will allow us to provide free materials and free programs across the country.

How else can you get involved in your organization?

We rely on volunteers to help our programs thrive, including event ambassadors, workshop mentors, and remote volunteers. If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer, visit our page here.

Montreal Neuro

What is the mission of your organization?

We have four main goals:

  • To understand the nervous system, discover mechanisms of disease, and develop and deliver effective treatments for neurological conditions,
  • To foster an outstanding research and clinical atmosphere by promoting interaction and collaboration,
  • To train and mentor new generations of scientists and skilled health care professionals, and foster clinician scientists, and
  • To develop a new model of discovery and innovation based on open science as an accelerator for the benefit of patients and the community.

What populations do you serve?

As an example, we provide financial aid to families who have small children with brain tumors. We often serve patient & families with financial problems.

What will the money DRW raises go towards?

The money DRW raises will help us provide financial aid to families in need, including things like social work help.

How else can you get involved in your organization?

The Neuro relies on hundreds of volunteers each year to provide specialized volunteer programs to our patients and family members, such as friendly visits, handcare, humour, physiotherapy and wayfinding, just to name a few. Tyndale St Georges

What is the mission of your organization?

Our mission is to empower the community of Little Burgundy by offering programs designed to promote self-reliance, mutual aid and fulfillment through education, cultural, social, employment and recreational programs, providing individuals and families with encouragement, tools, opportunities and support, to help develop the community of Little Burgundy and to work with community partners to enhance the cultural, social, economic and environmental well-being of the community, and to be a presence to the community of Little Burgundy and accompany its people through their struggles and successes.

What populations do you serve?

Our programs range from early literacy programs for 0 to 5 year-olds to life skills training for adults.

What will the money DRW raises go towards?

The money DRW raises this year will go towards making our programs accessible all day long, including allowing us to keep computer labs open to making snacks available for everyone.

How else can you get involved in your organization?

Welcome Hall Mission

What is the mission of your organization?

Established in 1892, Welcome Hall Mission has become the largest doorway to help for Montrealers in need. Many programs are available to support the homeless, young single mothers, families and at-risk youth. Providing hope through concrete actions and effective solutions.

What populations do you serve?

We serve the homeless, young single mothers, families and at-risk youth in Montreal.

What will the money DRW raises go towards?

This year, the money DRW raises will go towards helping us break the model of old food banks, and allow us to give a real grocery shopping experience to the people. They can go in our store and choose any products on the shelves just like in a regular grocery store.

How else can you get involved in your organization?

Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer

What is the mission of your organization?

The Ride has been a rallying cry for those who know that cancer is no match against our conviction to conquer it, and encompasses all that it means to take on this cycling journey and fundraising crusade. The courage, boldness, pride, determination and generosity of our Ridership have helped to raise millions in support of the Segal Cancer Centre at the Jewish General Hospital.

What will the money DRW raises go towards?

The money raised for The Enbridge® Ride to Conquer Cancer® will helps fund cancer research and care at the Segal Cancer Centre at the Jewish General Hospital and throughout Quebec. Funds will also be used to support new technologies in the areas of molecular diagnostics, functional imaging, biomarkers, molecular target discovery and validation, and advanced targeted radiation therapy.

How else can you get involved in your organization?
