In the News: Don Wilson trading company argues its case rather than settling with CFTC

A leading derivatives trader accused of market manipulation by a US regulator is making a last-ditch bid to avoid a trial.

DRW, the Chicago-based proprietary trading company, and its boss Don Wilson have filed a motion asking a newly appointed judge to dismiss the case before it goes before a jury on December 1. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission's lawsuit has riveted the trading industry. Exchanges and lobby groups filed a brief in support of DRW, arguing the CFTC changed the legal standard for price manipulation to pursue Mr.Wilson, a prominent figure in derivatives markets.
