Holiday Giving Challenge: London

Across the pond, our London office is supporting four great organizations for our annual Giving Challenge. Read more about what they do and other ways you can get involved in these organizations below.

Code Club

What is the mission of your organization?

Our aim is to inspire the next generation to get excited about computing and digital making.

What populations do you serve?

We support a nationwide network of volunteers and educators who run free coding clubs where young people aged 9-13 build and share their ideas, learning along the way.

How else can you get involved in your organization?

We offer many options for members of the community to get involved, including as volunteers, hosts, and teachers. To learn more about the opportunities available, check out our page here.

Migration Museum

What is the mission of your organization?

The Migration Museum Project is shining a light on the many ways that the movement of people to and from Britain across the ages has shaped who we are – as individuals, as communities, and as a nation. We are doing this through the creation of an inspiring national Migration Museum, a far-reaching nationwide education program, and a knowledge-sharing network of museums and galleries across the UK.

What populations do you serve?

Our exhibitions and events have been attended by over 170,000 visitors, while more than 6,500 school and university students have participated in our education workshops.

How else can you get involved in your organization?

Volunteers are key to our work! We are currently recruiting volunteers to assist with our next exhibition Room to Breathe. If you are interested, shoot us an email here.

Against Malaria

What is the mission of your organization?

We protect people from malaria by funding nets and ensure they are distributed and used. We show you where the nets go, and then monitor and report their use and impact.

What populations do you serve?

Half a million people die from Malaria each year and 400 million fall ill. 70% of them are children under 5, and it is the #1 killer of pregnant women. When deciding to fund nets for a distribution, we look for two things: areas with a malaria problem where there is also a need for nets, and distribution partners with whom we are comfortable working.

How else can you get involved in your organization?

Although donations are the best way to help, we also accept net donations here.

Cure Parkinson's

What is the mission of your organization?

Our mission is to find disease-modifying treatments which slow, stop or even reverse Parkinson's, and our goal is to discover treatments that change the way the disease progresses and transform the lives of those who live with Parkinson's.

What populations do you serve?

The money we raise is used for preclinical projects, previously funded research, and other ways of finding a cure for Parkinson’s. This research has the potential to affect the approximately 10 million people in the world who have Parkinson’s.

How else can you get involved in your organization?
